Kate Gwilliam, counsellor and owner of Thyme Therapy in Gympie.

Meet Kate — Women's Counsellor in Gympie

I’m Kate, a qualified counsellor with a Bachelor of Counselling (AIPC).

My work is grounded in calm, compassion, and clarity. I specialise in supporting women who often feel like they’ve been holding everything together — for family, work, relationships — but quietly falling apart behind the scenes.

Many of my clients describe feeling:

🌿anxious or “on edge”

🌿emotionally drained

🌿like they’ve lost their identity after major life changes

🌿overwhelmed but unsure where to start

🌿invisible in their own lives

My approach is gentle and steady. I don’t rush you, push you, or pressure you to talk about anything before you're ready. Instead, I walk alongside you as you make sense of what you’re carrying and rediscover the parts of yourself you’ve had to tuck away.

You deserve a calm place to land — and someone in your corner.
That’s the heart of Thyme Therapy.

How TherapyWorks

I take an integrative approach to counselling, grounded in Person-Centred Therapy. This means our sessions are tailored to you, using a blend of evidence-based approaches such as Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness, depending on what feels most helpful.

My role is to provide a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace.

The therapeutic relationship is central to this process. I work with empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, supporting you to develop greater self-understanding, emotional awareness, and confidence in navigating life’s challenges.

Counselling at Thyme Therapy is collaborative and guided by your goals, values, and readiness.

This means:

🌿You are the expert in your own life

🌿Sessions move at a pace that feels safe for you

🌿There is no pressure to “fix” or rush your experience

🌿The focus is on emotional well-being, self-understanding and personal growth

🌿Thyme Therapy is a calm, respectful and confidential space where your experiences are met with care and without judgement.
